幕府の政務は5人か6人の老中、老中を補佐する若年寄が担っていました。
Bakufu’s political matters were administrated by 5 or 6 Roju and Wakadoshiyori, Roju’s assistant.
そして、老中に従う大目付は大名を監視し、若年寄に従う目付は旗本を監視しました。
Roju supervised Oometsuke who was monitoring the feudal lords, and Wakadoshiyori supervised Metsuke who was monitoring Hatamoto.
また、江戸市中の行政や司法を取り扱う町奉行、幕府の財政を運営する勘定奉行は老中に従いました。
Also, Roju supervised Town Bugyo whose job was to deal with the administrative and judicial affairs in Edo and Accounting Bugyo whose job was to manage the financial affairs of Bakufu.
寺社を統制する寺社奉行、町奉行、勘定奉行の三奉行で構成された評定所は幕府の重要な政務につき老中と合議する役割を担っていました。
The foresaid 2 Bugyo and Temple-and-Shrine Bugyo controlling all the temples and the shrines in Japan were the members of Hyojosho which consulted with Roju about Bakufu’s important political affairs.
さらに、幕府は都の京都所司代に朝廷や西国の大名を監察させました。
Plus, Bakufu had Kyoto Shoshidai in the capital monitor the dynasty and the feudal lords in West Japan.
