そして、平清盛は平氏だけを多くの朝廷の重要な地位に就けていきました。
Kiyomori Taira gave a lot of important posts in the dynasty exclusively to Heishi members.
このように平氏は政治的にも経済的にも強大な力をつけていった一方、平家（貴族化したトップの平氏）としての生活を20年近くも続ける中、軍事力はみるみる衰退していっていました。
While Heishi became a political and economic giant, Heike (top Heishi members who had been living like aristocrats for about 2 decades) were gradually losing their militaristic power.
そこで、後白河法皇は朝廷から平氏を追放することを試みました。
Seeing this, Goshirakara Dharma Emperor attempted to purge Heishi from the dynasty.
ところが、平清盛は乱を起こし、こともあろうか1179年に後白河法皇を幽閉してしまったのです。
However, Kiyomori Taira had a revolt, and he dare incarcerated Goshirakara Dharma Emperor in 1179.
朝廷が平清盛をここまで増長させ、その傲慢さに長く寛容にならざるをえなかったのは、平清盛が実は白河法皇の子であったからではないかと言われています。
Some say that because he was actually Shirakawa Dharma Emperor’s son, the dynasty must have had to let him grow this much and tolerate his arrogance for a long time.
