源義経は信じられないほど勇敢な戦法で1184年2月に一ノ谷（兵庫県）の戦いで平氏軍に挑みました。
In February of 1184, Yoshitsune Minamoto took an unbelievably brave tactics to challenge Heishi’s troop in the Battle of Ichinotani (Hyogo Prefecture).
一ノ谷は絶壁を背にした海岸にありました。
Ichinotani was on a seashore in front of a precipice.
そして、両側から敵が攻めてくると沖に船を漕ぎ出して海岸に集まった敵を挟み込むように船を移し、船上から矢を一斉射撃されるような場所でした。
Once the enemy comes from either side, they could sail out to position their boats to sandwich the enemy gathered on the seashore and shoot the arrows in a volley from the boats.
そこで、源義経は大胆にも騎馬隊とともに平氏軍が背にしている崖のような坂を一氣に駆け下り、完全に不意打ちを食らった平氏軍を討伐したのです。
So, Yoshitsune Minamoto and his cavalry boldly went down the cliff like slope in back of them at once and defeated totally surprised Heishi’s troop.
