将軍となってから僅か10年で足利義満は都の北山地区に「花の御所」と呼ばれる豪華絢爛な将軍の邸宅と広大な庭園を造りました。
Only a decade after Yoshimitsu Ashikaga became Shogun, he built Shogun’s magnificent mansion and huge garden called, “Flowery Palace” in Kitayama district of the capital.
足利義満は将軍と幕府の威厳を誇示するため、天皇の御所をも凌ぐほど華やかで、より一層流行的な造りにしました。
To flaunt the dignity of Shogun and Bakufu, he made it even fancier and much more fashionable than the Imperial Palace.
そして、庭園内には金箔で覆われた「金閣寺」として知られる鹿苑寺を建てました。
In the garden, he built Rokuonji Temple, the golden leafed temple which is know as “Kinkakuji Temple”.
また、足利義満は非常に多くの資財を投じて日本の伝統文化を花開かせました。
Also, he spent a large amount of money to flourish Japan’s traditional culture.
さらに、足利義満には優れた音楽的な才能もあり、都にいた朝廷貴族からも大変尊敬されていました。
Plus, he was very talent in music as well, so he was highly respected by the aristocrats in the capital.
朝廷は1394年に最高位の太政大臣の位まで足利義満に与えており、1408年に足利義満は亡くなりました。
The dynasty had even given him the top minister, the secretary chief’s rank in 1394, and he passed away in 1408.
